Brazil’s top TV channel TV Globo is betting its 2009 lineup on a 200 episode telenovella Caminho das Indias (Path to India). Airing Monday to Saturday starting Jan 19 through September, it is Brazil’s first telenovella set in India. Over the next 9 months, the love story

 
by prominent Brazilian TV writer Gloria Perez will steep 30 million Brazilians daily in Indian mysticism, palaces and temples. Says Perez: “Maya, the protagonist, is a woman with typical delicacy of India and faces a lot to fights for what he wants. In this case an impossible love, a passion that is an impediment that we do not know the degree. The incompatibility of caste is something you can ot change throughout life. Maya is strength, joy and beauty.”
